Advisory Career - Highlights
After my corporate career (below), I decided to spend more time with my family and become an executive advisor. Initially I did this at MCE. Today I work through Futurelab, a customer strategy boutique of which I am also the managing partner. My past projects have been varied and numerous, but some are worth a special mention. They involved leading the teams which worked with the:
- Philips CMO office to assist executive teams (all regions/divisions) in introducing the Net Promoter ™ (NPS) framework as a practice in their business. Additional projects at Philips involved a programme to align marketing & IT activities at every customer touchpoint as well as a global HR programme to adapt the marketing team capabilities to the new strategy of the business.
- L'Oréal Group's Managing Director Strategic Marketing in capturing his vision and strategy for the group in a compelling storyline.
- ING's global marketing team in starting a movement around "customer-centric behaviour" across the organisation.
- BNPP IP global marketing team to manage the integration of Fortis Investments and develop the unified go-to-market plan. This assignment followed previous engagements for globally integrating ABN-AMRO Asset Management into Fortis Investments and refining the Fortis Investments positioning.
- Lexus Europe senior team and countries to redefine the Lexus Customer Experience (LCE) around an identified set of customer insights. Beyond the actual experience design, a lot of attention went to gaining buy-in for the new approach and empowering the people in the organisation to act on it in a measurable way.
- Avery Dennison EAM/Asia leadership team on a programme to increase the sales effectiveness of the organisation and innovate the commercial approach by aligning all parts of the business around set customer targets.
- Gemalto global marketing leadership on developing a sales presentation & consultative selling approach which felt comfortable to the newly merged sales teams (Axalto & Gemplus) and clearly illustrated the company's solution strategy in a way that was both intuitive and effective.
Corporate Career - Highlights
Before my life as an executive aid, I followed the corporate life myself. In specific, I:
- started out in product management at Mexx, where I was subsequently tasked with aligning the various countries into one European advertising approach and set up the Mexx College retail profitability venture.
- acted as project finance manager in over 30 international start-ups at the small Luxembourg venture capital fund/merchant bank Amalinvest.
- worked on turnaround of Reebok Belgium. Subsequently, I joined the Reebok EMEA management team as GM for retail (Reebok, Rockport, Greg Norman). Here I prepared the outlet store network for its European roll-out, streamlined the full-price retail presence across all formats (2000+ locations) and introduced space management & visual merchandising into the apparel business. Eventually I also took on responsibility for all marketing in the region.
- was head of global marketing at Leisureplanet, an AOL-LVMH-UBS backed early mover in the online travel business.
- acted as CEO of the Belgian internet media group Advalvas Media.
